1. JUVENTUS

OVERVIEW – Despite a weird start in Udine (from 2-0 to the final 2-2), and a big loss at home vs newly promoted Empoli, the bianconeri see Massimiliano Allegri return. The Coach of five consecutive titles (2015-2019) has the deepest roster and knows how to win. He has been the key factor in Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit, which he considered the team’s biggest problem. Per direct source, Allegri said, literally “I would also trade CR7 with the Real Madrid warehouse keeper”.

KEY FACTOR – Find a midfield balance: Locatelli (got from Sassuolo) is very good but it might not be not enough. Find a different way to get goals: 30 of Ronaldo must be spreaded. With Morata likely being the usual (average) Morata, Kulusevski still without a role and Kean (sold at 26 MLN€ and bought back at 40) not being a sureness, Dybala and Chiesa will determine season result: bianconeri must hope it will be enough

PAY ATTENTION TO – Dybala renewal: quiet before the storm? Everything should be alright now that CR7 has gone. Paulo is with no doubt the most important player for Allegri.

2. AC MILAN

OVERVIEW – Milan has put lots of money on the market: Giroud, Maignan, Florenzi, Tomori, Diaz and counting. So, it’s understandable that Stefano Pioli says (again) they are ready to win the Scudetto. Will it happen this time?

KEY FACTOR – Some players repeat a fantastic season: focus on Calabria Kjær Kessie Rebic.

PAY ATTENTION TO – Ibrahimovic’s health and relationship with Pioli and teammates. With Giroud (great start for him), Ibra is not indispensable anymore which could be a time bomb.

3. INTER (🇮🇹)

OVERVIEW – Suning financial situation caused Hakimi and Lukaku to depart. Best tactical weapon and Serie A 2020-21 MVP are hard to replace, but Marotta has given new boss Simone Inzaghi players like Edin Dzeko and Denzel Dumfries, along with Calhanoglu (another free transfer from AC Milan). The roster is weaker but deeper and with more tactical alternatives. Is that enough to keep Scudetto and get the second star? We’ll see..The Campioni d’Italia will fight, for sure.

KEY FACTOR – Look for Lautaro Martinez and Dzeko to get 35 goals together. Lukaku-Lautaro made 41 last year, but Inzaghi schemes could make midfielders to score much more.

PAY ATTENTION TO – Handanovic’s irreversible decline. Ajax’s Cameroonian Onana is close to a deal for next year, but this season could be quite long and painful for Samir.

EXTRA NOTE: Eriksen deserves support from every fan, worldwide.

4. ATALANTA

OVERVIEW – The Percassi family knows how to maximize a peak season of a player, so they got 50MLN€ from Tottenham for Romero. That said, the surprising Juventus renouncement to Turkish National Demiral has already fixed the backline. Muriel will be the usual lethal weapon to confirm a Champions League spot.
KEY FACTOR – Eastern Europe offensive midfielders pack (Malinovskyi, Miranchuk, Ilicic, Pasalic..) to provide alternative fire power. Zapata to be healthy and focused, after a full-of-transfer rumors summer.

PAY ATTENTION TO – Many (too many?) years of Gasperini in the same locker room. The Papu Gomez saga is still alive, and that is not a good thing.

5. NAPOLI

OVERVIEW – Luciano Spalletti Serie A rentrée has happened in Diego Maradona Stadium. The savvy Tuscan Coach has a very interesting group of players that bring experience and freshness to the roster.

KEY FACTOR – Will Spalletti ‘s brilliant 4-2-3-1 be enough to unveil Osimehn’s potential? Will Zielinski get 12 goals? Will the duo Koulibaly-Manolas get back to their golden years?

PAY ATTENTION TO – Insigne situation (Contract renewal is on the table) and De Laurentiis – Spalletti relationship about that. Duel Ospina-Meret (recently injured) can become a weakness.

6. ROMA

OVERVIEW – There are 2 words to introduce AS Roma’s season: José Mourinho. Will his charisma and experience be enough to provide what’s missing in the eternal city? The team is really interesting with lots of talent, especially in midfield (Veretout, L.Pellegrini) and attack (Mkhitarian, Abraham, Shomudorov).
KEY FACTOR – Tammy Abraham, 40MLN€ from Chelsea had an extra bright debut in front of his new fans: if he maintains the promise, and Rui Patricio will be a reliable goalkeeper, José could fight until the end. The start was brilliant.
PAY ATTENTION TO – All the baggage that comes along with the Portuguese may be too much to handle for a club.

7. LAZIO

OVERVIEW – Formello (Lazio HQ & Training Center) end of August, about a whole month since training camp started. Press Conference. Journalist: “How is living in Rome?” Maurizio Sarri: “I don’t know, I’ve just seen Formello”. Ladies and Gentlemen: Coach Sarri.

KEY FACTOR – Lazio Trio of stars (Immobile, Luis Alberto, Milinkovic-Savic) to make a step further with Sarriball.Rest of the team (including new arrivals Zaccagni -from Hellas Verona- and Felipe Anderson -from West Ham-) to maintain the pace all season long. If both these two things happen, it will be fun.

PAY ATTENTION TO – As for Mourinho, Sarri is a maniacal Coach. Sarriball does not come by itself or naturally; it takes thousands of hours, application. Is Rome the right place for that?

8. FIORENTINA

OVERVIEW – Just Vlahovic’s team? Not really! Vincenzo Italiano (new Mister) seems to have already found the right way to work. He is trying to re-create 2020-21 Spezia football and the beginning has been good. Dragowski – Milenkovic – Torreira (from Arsenal via Atletico Madrid) – Vlahovic is a very good backbone.
KEY FACTOR – Wings. Nico Gonzalez is a very reliable wing. He can be 2nd option for Viola’s attack. José Callejon seems to be invigorated by their new Coach.

PAY ATTENTION TO – Frenze is a passionate town which puts a lot of pressure on the team to win. Under Giotto’s bell tower, good times are really good, but bad time… you get the idea.

9. SASSUOLO

OVERVIEW – A new era for neroverdi. Mister De Zerbi moved to Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donets and Alessio Dionisi made his debut on the Serie A bench. The club has chosen not to add revolution to revolution. Continuity on the pitch for the team makes sense.
KEY FACTOR – Raspadori is the young stud to replace Caputo (Sampdoria) as a center forward.

PAY ATTENTION TO – Europa League qualification was very near last season: will the club be able to push the mentality to pursue that target? Or will the group unconsciously choose a comfort zone of just avoiding relegation to Serie B?
In this second scenario, the ground could become slippery with no alert.

10. UDINESE

OVERVIEW – I feel this could be a brilliant season for Friulan’s team. They made a good sell with Musso to Atalanta and replaced him well with Silvestri from Verona. They have Pussetto back, and the quick Argentinian can get to 15 goals. Molina is a young right wing who can get the fly to a major team next year. Roberto Pereyra is a top player.

KEY FACTOR – Attack to convert volume in goals.

PAY ATTENTION TO – Pussetto hasn’t got a definitive goal partner: Deulofeu is a very similar player, Okaka needs to find better form. New arrival Beto (from Portimonense, Liga Portugal) could be the surprise.

11. VERONA

OVERVIEW – Juric’s great era has ended with the Croatian headed off to Torino. Tactical will remain 3-4-2-1, but one of 2 trequartisti (Zaccagni) has joined Lazio in the last hours of transfer window. Barak will make the duo with Caprari (arrived from Benevento via Sampdoria).

KEY FACTOR – Faraoni and Lazovic to continue giving full support in both offensive and defensive phases. Lasagna / Simeone to solve the center-attack problem.

PAY ATTENTION TO – The group will ask too much of Mister Di Francesco. They need to feel the same fire in order to maintain aggressiveness and the one-to-one defensive scheme which has been a blueprint. Di Francesco is coming from difficult seasons at Sampdoria and Cagliari, will he be able to bring what the team needs?

12. SAMPDORIA

OVERVIEW – Caudio Ranieri saved blucerchiati’s boat last year but haven’t found the agreement to remain in Liguria. D’Aversa is now in charge after a bad finish in Parma last year.
KEY FACTOR – Caputo is bringing his suitcase to Genova and will set up an aged but talented strikers with Quagliarella. Should Damsgaard repeat European Tournament performances, this season should be far more quiet than the previous one.
PAY ATTENTION TO – The roster does not seem to be very deep, so the club must hope not to suffer any relevant injury.

13. TORINO

OVERVIEW – Torino is coming off of disappointing seasons. Juric has been chosen to give a spark of the old Torino Style: commitment, sacrifice, heart. The squad remains mostly the same, with captain Belotti (injured at the moment) set to lead the group.

PAY ATTENTION TO – Vanja Milinkovic-Savic (brother of more famous Lazio midfielder Sergej): first year as a goalkeeper role-owner, at 24. He’s 6’7, but requires a lot of seasoning.

14. BOLOGNA

OVERVIEW – Mihajlovic has finally got the center-attack he was looking for: Marko Arnautovic from Shanghai was a great addition.

KEY FACTOR – Full backs: Tomyiasu has been sold to Arsenal and Danilo left. Bonifazi and Soumaoro will need to find a quick chemistry.

PAY ATTENTION TO – Could Mihajlovic’s up-and-down play lead to more problems?

15. EMPOLI

OVERVIEW – Back to Serie A, Empoli got Andreazzoli back on the bench. AS Roma school Mister is giving his brilliant putting his imprint on the team, which allowed them to get a historical W versus a CR7-less Juventus in Turin.

PAY ATTENTION TO – While Vicario should give enough guarantees, their strikers looks nice (Mancuso, Cutrone, Pinamonti, Di Francesco). The team’s midfielders look poor in number.

16. CAGLIARI

OVERVIEW – Summer drama in Argentinian/Belgian souce in Sardinia: Nainggolan then didn’t arrive, while Nandez stayed. How much have these factors affected training camp and locker room quiet?
KEY FACTOR – Midfield is the best department on the pitch: Strootman, Marin, Nandez are solid.

PAY ATTENTION TO – Keita Balde might be right partner both to Joao Pedro and Pavoletti. Is the defensive line good enough?

17. GENOA

OVERVIEW – Another Preziosi’s revolution has taken place. The most important arrival has been centravanti Caicedo from Lazio and full back Maksimovic from Napoli.

KEY FACTOR – Mister Ballardini to enforce the midfield, hoping that Hernani will be as prolific as last season.

PAY ATTENTION TO – Is goalkeeper Sirigu in the decline? After last season at Torino, the doubts are legitimate.

18. SPEZIA

OVERVIEW – Thiago Motta is now in charge. He had an encouraging draw at Cagliari followed by a 6-1 loss to Lazio.

KEY FACTOR – As for many bottom ranking teams, the strikers are the key: Nzola remained and maybe it could be a blessing.
PAY ATTENTION TO – If Nzola does not play, one from Salcedo, Manaj and Colley has to step up. Maggiore will manage the midfield, where Kovalenko can be a nice surprise. Closing the defensive gateway (8 goals conceded in 2 games) is a must.

19. SALERNITANA

KEY FACTOR – Fanck Ribery is not a 90′ player anymore but in 60′ he can make the difference. His assists, IQ and tricks can create nice situations for the other big addition in Nwankwo Simy (21 goals last year with Crotone). Di Tacchio, at a Serie A debut at 31, will help.
PAY ATTENTION TO – Defense seem the main area to watch at the moment. Gagliolo, who just arrived from Parma, will bring experience and a few goals as well.

20. VENEZIA

OVERVIEW – A Rookie Mister (Paolo Zanetti). Many rookies on the field and 6/7 new players in the starting eleven. A hard start (2 away games vs Napoli and Udinese) has confirmed it will not be easy.

KEY FACTOR – Maintaining Serie A will pass through Zanetti to find 2 to 3 players that can take their games to the next level. For sure, one must be a striker (veteran Forte? Henry?).

PAY ATTENTION TO – Home matches must bring points sooner rather than later.
