As we approach Pride Month (June) Rufus Wainwright has a special treat for us. He is sharing his version of the Judy Garland classic “Over The Rainbow.” It’s not just the rendition that dazzles, it’s the sequins-covered tank he wears while singing. So awesome!
The song’s release was recorded for the and two-time GRAMMY Award-nominated singer’s upcoming virtual concert event: Rufus Does Judy at Capitol Studios.
Rufus Wainwright Does Judy
This special event will premiere Thursday, June 10 at 8:00 PM (EST), celebrating what would have been Garland’s 99th birthday! Tickets for Rufus Does Judy at Capitol Studios are available now exclusively via Veeps. There will also be ticket bundles available with the opportunity for fans to participate in an intimate Q&A with Rufus. Ticket buyers will have access to an exclusive film “Inside the Red Ruby Slippers” which has behind the scenes of this special event.
During this amazing Pride Month event, Wainwright will have the backing of a four-piece band in front of a micro-audience comprised of two-time Academy Award-winning actress Renée Zellweger. Renée Zellweger was the winner of last year’s “Best Actress” Oscar for her spectacular performance as Garland in 2019’s Judy. Additionally, Wainwright will be joined musically by the award-winning star, Kristin Chenoweth, in person at Capitol Studios along with his sister Martha Wainwright.
