Today’s the day friends, the newest season of Naked and Afraid premieres, today, Sunday, August 1 at 8pm ET/PT on Discovery.
Admittedly, I can get caught up in reality television, although it often doesn’t feel “real” to me. What keeps me hooked is usually that I end up really wanting one individual to win OR really wanting one absurd person to get booted. TV gurus know this and those two people usually end up in the season for the long haul. Hence, Christy being addicted to watching things like Big Brother and Naked & Afraid.
Of course, I’m also a fan of these types of shows because in my wildest dreams, maybe, I would be able to go to a location like this and rough it. However, not even in my wildest dreams would I ever be going it naked. The vulnerability of being naked and afraid adds a whole other layer to the survival of the fittest mantra.
This year Discovery actually has TWO locations at which survivalists will be doing their thing.
From the dense rainforests of Ecuador, to the deadly plains of South Africa, survivalists will travel across the globe for the ultimate test of human endurance – surviving 21 days without clothes, food, or water.
Naked and Afraid Location One: Ecuador
All-stars Fernando Calderon & Dani Beau return to a rainforest in Ecuador where they attempt to hunt for piranha with their bare hands, while a threesome pairing of two men and one woman will risk their lives in order to find food by scaling massive waterfall cliffs down to a beach.
Naked and Afraid Location Two: South Africa
Four survivalists from different countries will come together in South Africa for the ultimate international challenge – USA versus the World. They are going to be placed in South Africa where they will come face-to-face with deadly predators, such as territorial baboons, aggressive water buffalo, caiman, jaguars, snakes, and poisonous bullet ants.
