Players to watch tonight
-Odafe Oweh: The Ravens picked rookie pass rusher Odafe Oweh in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft with the 31st overall pick. Odafe is a very unpredictable player. He does not have very much football experience before he arrived in the NFL. Despite his lack of experience, his athleticism is off the charts. Odafe impressed scouts with his athleticism at the 2021 NFL Draft Combine which is likely what made him go in the first round. He should be a very exciting and electric player to watch this season.
-CB Shaun Wade: Shaun Wade is a player who came out of the The Ohio State University and at first he was considered a first round draft prospect. He fell in the draft however due to his lack of ability to cover the outside part of the field. But despite his lack of ability to cover the outside, Shaun Wade is at his best when in the slot. He will be a very interesting player to watch coming out of college and into the NFL.
–WR James Proche: Proche was not used very much last season so many fans probably don’t even know who he is. Proche coming out of SMU showed he had a lot of speed and the ability to catch the ball consistently. If you know anything about the Ravens Wide Receiver group, you know that’s something they’ve been lacking for a long time now. Proche had a couple of plays last season where he showed his abilities on special teams. He has had a very impressive 2021 training camp and has been one of the hardest workers at camp so he will likely get a lot of playing time to show his abilities this preseason and hopefully in the regular season as well.
Some interesting positions to watch going into tonights game
The entire offensive line: The Ravens offensive line was a huge problem for them last season and it showed. There were times Lamar Jackson couldn’t get the ball out in games because before he knew it he was being pressured. This offseason the Ravens made some improvements to the offensive line, adding Guard Kevin Zeitler, Tackle Alejandro Villanueva and Tackle Ja’Wuan James in free agency and adding Guard Ben Cleveland in the 2021 NFL Draft. Finally the Ravens moved Center Bradley Bozeman from his original Guard position to the Center position. So while the Ravens have changed the offensive line up, the future looks good for the Ravens
Wide Receiver: The Ravens changed a lot of things up in the offseason at the Wide Receiver position, adding Rashod Bateman out of Minnesota and Tylan Wallace out of Oklahoma State through the draft. Baltimore also added Sammy Watkins, Deon Cain and plenty of other options in free agency.
Edge Rushers: Baltimore didn’t make as many additions to the edge rusher position but there are some new faces. They added Justin Houston through free agency recently and Odafe Oweh out of Penn State as well as Daelin Hayes out of Notre Dame. These additions join the players who have been with the Ravens for a few seasons now such as Jaylon Ferguson and Tyus Bowser. So while there are some question marks about the Ravens at edge rusher, they got much better by adding Justin Houston and the Ravens are great at developing defensive players so these younger players could have a good future in Baltimore
