Will the starters play tonight?
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has not made it clear if the starters will play tonight. We did see some starters play last week against the Saints. Running back J.K. Dobbins, Linebackers Patrick Queen and L.J. Fort as well as defensive backs Marlon Humphrey, Marcus Peters, DeShon Elliott and Anthony Levine Sr. all played last week.
At this time, it is not known if we’ll see those players suit up against the Carolina Panthers. Quarterback Lamar Jackson will not be playing tonight. However, quarterbacks Tyler Huntley and recently signed quarterback Kenji Bahar will likely be playing tonight.
Positions to watch tonight
The offensive line
Against the Saints, the Ravens offensive line played awful. In in their defense, probably at most one or maybe 2 of our offensive line starters were out there. Expect a better offensive line during the regular season and improved performance during week two of the preseason.
J.K. Dobbins will surely be named RB1 when the regular season begins. Recently two running backs showed a lot of potential last week against the Saints. In that first preseason game, Nate McCrary and Ty’Son Williams showed a lot of promise. The competition at running back will be interesting to see who plays better out of these two players.
Last week against the Saints, fans got their first glimpse of rookie edge rusher Odafe Oweh. While the stat sheet showed he didn’t play all that well, that’s not all that it’s about. It’s important to note that this was his first game ever in the NFL. Hopefully tonight he can showcase his athleticism, stop the run game as well as get to the quarterback.
Another edge rusher waiting for their chance to have a breakout season is Jaylon Ferguson. Jaylon was a third round pick out of Louisiana Tech in the 2019 draft. Ever since then, he hasn’t gotten the chance to show his talent on the football field. Hopefully tonight he can show why he’s worth a good amount of playing time for the regular season.
