Pineworks Creative, in collaboration with legendary Cambridge, Massachusetts folk music venue Club Passim, is thrilled to announce the first annual Queerfolk Fest, sponsored by Bluegrass Pride, a San Francisco-based non-profit whose mission is to uplift LGBTQ+ musicians and creators in roots music.
When’s the festival starting?
On June 12, 2021, music lovers from across the globe are invited to tune into the virtual festival, which will take place from 1:00 p.m. EST until 7:00 p.m. EST. Those of you interested in watching or listening to the festival the broadcast can be viewed at Queerfolkfest.com. The show is accessible to all with a suggested ticket price of $20 per viewer but the price you pay is up to you. Ticket sales help support festival costs, artist payments, and the future of Queerfolk events.
After recognizing a large and growing volume of queer folk artists and a lack of spaces to support them, queer folk artist Sara Gougeon, Berklee College of Music graduate and founder of Pineworks Creative, decided to organize the Queerfolk Fest to provide opportunities for and to amplify the voices of LGBTQ+-identifying artists and bands.
Who created Queerfolk Fest?
Pineworks Creative is a new music company founded by Sara Gougeon in 2021. Club Passim is an established folk music venue in Cambridge, Massachusetts. These two entities and their staff want to support queer-identifying artists by providing a space for them to showcase their music and connect with other LGBTQ+ individuals in the industry.
Who will we be performing at the Queerfolk Fest?
This year’s lineup features Mary Gauthier, Jaimee Harris, The Accidentals, lewloh, Melissa Ferrick, Daisy O’Connor, Jaimee Harris, Skout, Izzy Heltai, Sadie Gustafson-Zook, Phil Berman, Madison West, Hannah Rooth, Sweet Petunia, Casey Murray & Molly Tucker, Zach Day, Julia Fortman, and Liv Greene.
