Blazers visit the Sixers

It’s gameday! The Philadelphia 76ers are taking on the Portland Trail Blazers tonight at 10:00 pm EST in “Rip City”. This game will be broadcasted on NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus and Philadelphia’s 97.5 “The Fanatic”. As for uniforms, Portland will wear their 1970s based city jersey and Philadelphia will sport their standard association jersey. The last time these two teams met, the short-handed 76ers defeated the Trail Blazers 113-103.

Trail Blazers Outlook

The Portland Trail Blazers are 8-8 on the season and sit at 8th place in the western conference. Furthermore, Portland is on a two-game winning streak and looking to split with Philadelphia this evening. Most recently, the Blazers defeated the Chicago Bulls by a score of 112-107.

However, star guard Damian Lillard is on today’s injury report, suffering from abdomen tendinopathy. Last Sunday, Lillard missed Portland’s game against the Denver Nuggets due to this issue. Fortunately, his status is probable for tonight’s game.

Statistically, Portland ranks 7th in the NBA in points per game, scoring 109.4 per contest. Moreover, the Blazers score 110.1 points per 100 possessions, which ranks them 6th in the NBA. In addition, the Trail Blazers are 10th in the league in three-point percentage, shooting 35.3% from long range. To boot, Portland is 8th in the league in true-shooting percentage at 56.4%.

Trail Blazers 11:30 am EST Injury Report:

  • Damian Lillard (Probable – Abdomen tendinopathy)

76ers Outlook

The 76ers are 9-7 on the year and reside at 6th place in the Eastern Conference. Thankfully, Philadelphia snapped their five-game losing streak with a much-needed win over the Denver Nuggets. The Sixers defeated the Nuggets 103-89 and Tyrese Maxey led the way, scoring 22 points. Philadelphia aspires to sweep Portland in their season series and improve to 2-2 on this road trip.

Unfortunately, Philadelphia will be undermanned once again facing the Trail Blazers. Joel Embiid is still out due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols, and Danny Green is sidelined once more with hamstring tightness. However, reserve guard Matisse Thybulle cleared health and safety protocols last night. As a result, he’s listed as questionable for tonight’s game. Also, Thybulle has been out for seven consecutive games, and his potential return would give Philadelphia a great defensive boost.

76ers 11:30 am EST Injury Report:

  • Joel Embiid (Out – Health and safety protocols)
  • Danny Green (Out – Hamstring tightness)
  • Ben Simmons (Out – Personal reasons)
  • Matisse Thybulle (Questionable – Health and safety protocols)
