There is so much phenomenal music being released this summer. Ben Bostick is a South Carolina-raised, Georgia-based singer-songwriter, and one-man-band. Seriously, he can sing while playing guitar, harmonica, and foot percussion all at the same time. I don’t know how he does it. Bostick just announced his latest LP, Grown Up Love, set to release on August 20, 2021, and I am loving every second of the first single “Different Woman.”

The Motivation
We all have our own crosses to carry and oftentimes they are invisible to the outside world. This is especially true when we are isolated from the world for an extended period of time.
In February 2020, Bostick welcomed his second daughter into the world. In March the pandemic hit and work dried up. Last July Bostick’s eldest daughter was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome, a rare and severe genetic disorder that affects all aspects of her life. In the midst of these global and personal trials, Bostick abandoned an album of portraits and penned a collection of love songs to help his wife and him endure this most challenging time. The songs on Grown Up Love are born from the experience of a couple that has been through hell and back again.
Undeniably different
When you listen to Ben Bostick sing, you can easily hear who has influenced his music, think Paul Simon or Otis Redding. The music is slow, powerful, earthy, and authentic. This album from Bostick has an understated rawness that seriously took my breath away upon first listen. I’ve always enjoyed his music, but there’s something different here that is just undeniable. It’s not often that I stumble upon new music that has me stumped for words, but this album is moving and revelatory in ways most modern music is not.
For those of you itching to see a live show this summer, Bostick has gigs scheduled all the way through September. Chances are, if you’re in the Roswell, Georgia area, you can swing into a bar, vineyard, or farmer’s market and find him on their live entertainment schedule.
