We’re back! It’s been 32 weeks since football graced our flat screens. 32 weeks of turmoil and quarantines and discussions way more important about football. The NFL, more than any other sport, gives us a release from reality and for a day we can focus on watching football, setting fantasy lineups, and making money by betting. Last year, we made 47.15 Units for a ROI of 34.93%! We really cashed in on the Super Bowl last season as we more than doubled our yearly winnings, adding 23.81 Units thanks to the Chiefs covering (yes we predicted the final score within 2 points too); but mainly because Patrick Mahomes scored the games’ first touchdown which added 17 units by itself. Let’s continue that insane roll we ended the year on and put those stimulus checks to use.
3-Star Best NFL Bet
Falcons +1.5 vs Seahawks
This season is going to be interesting in terms of how much home field advantage is attributed to fans being present. Atlanta is not allowing fans in the stadium so that has something to do with the Falcons being home underdogs here. I personally think the Falcons are in for a better season than their 7-9 performance last year. For starters, they finished on a 4-game win streak and now enter the season with their offense in tact and a new toy for Matt Ryan in Hayden Hurst. The Seahawks on the other hand finished 11-5 last year, but their margin was only +7 which is more indicative of a .500 team than one that won 11 games. Matt Ryan and the offense will score early and will have solved their Julio redzone woes. Bet the Falcons to cover and win outright.
2-Star NFL Bets
Panthers +3 vs Raiders
I like Matt Rhule and loved the hire by the Panthers. Cam Newton is gone but Teddy Bridgewater, in my opinion, is a better quarterback for this team. Teams could stack the box against Cam and C-Mac because they didn’t fear Cam’s arm. Bridgewater isn’t Patrick Mahomes but he at least can keep defenses honest. I also do not think the Raiders are ready to be 3 point road favorites playing across country. This game will be close, but C-Mac will make one jaw-dropping play that edges the Panthers to a win. Bet the Panthers to cover and win outright.
Titans -1.5 @ Broncos (Monday Night)
Tennessee was the feel good story of the NFL last playoffs and showed that you can win in this league with a power rushing attack. Henry and Tannehill are back (and paid), and the Vrabel-coached defense is primed and ready to go. I don’t think we’ll see much of Clowney besides on maybe obvious passing downs but even without him fully in the fold this game should be lopsided. Denver got dealt a bad hand with defensive leader Von Miller going down for the season yesterday and I think that will affect them mentally this game. Titans will coast to a win that the final score is way closer than the feel of the game. Bet the Titans to win and cover.
