The Eagles announced on Monday night that they traded safety Johnathan Cyprien for Atlanta Falcons linebacker Duke Riley.
This was not the trade we were expecting, but it is an interesting one. The Eagles are pretty thin at linebacker even with captain Kamu Grugier-Hill returning from injury. They just released LJ Fort who was a failed signing this offseason. Duke Riley can hopefully come in and actually play defensive snaps, not just special teams. In 32 games played, Riley has 90 tackles, 52 solo and 38 assisted. However this season, Riley has not found a way to make the field on defense. Riley has spent his time the first four games of the season on special teams for the Falcons. The Eagles see something in Riley and have upgraded their late round pick in 2020. It is a low risk, high reward type of trade.
You might remember Duke Riley
Here’s a funny story. Remember after the week 2 loss to Atlanta on Sunday Night Football and the Falcons players dancing in the locker room? Well it turns out that one of the main players dancing in that video is Duke Riley.

Jalen Ramsey Update:
This does not impact a potential Jalen Ramsey trade, so be sure to keep an eye on his situation. As of now, it looks to be a standoff between Jalen Ramsey and the Jaguars front office. Be sure to follow us on Twitter (@EaglesTPL) for the latest on Jalen Ramsey and any other Eagles news!
