“Die in a Gunfight,” out on July 16, is a movie about messy love starring the ever-busy Alexandra Daddario and the lesser-known Diego Boneta. You might have recently seen Daddario in The Girlfriend Experience or Why Women Kill? Boneta will be starring in the Latinx Father of the Bride remake with Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan as his next big project. Now that sounds like a remake movie I will absolutely have to see.
“Die in a Gunfight” also stars Wade Allain-Marcus, Billy Crudup (“Watchmen”), Justin Chatwin (“Shameless”) and Emmanuelle Chriqui (“Superman and Lois”).
Directed by Collin Schiffli, written by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, this movie is one part rom-com and one part action. The way Schiffli describes it seems very Westside Story meets Romeo and Juliet with family wars, gang violence and such. However, I think what you’ll see ins this trailer is something a bit more vibrant and comedic. It’s not every day you softly wipe blood off an enemy of your family, in a diner booth, with explosions in the background, right?
In Die in a Gunfight, Mary (Alexandra Daddario) and Ben (Diego Boneta) are the star-crossed black sheep of two powerful families engaged in a centuries-long feud – and they’re about to reignite an affair after many years apart. Their forbidden love will trigger the dominoes that will draw in Mukul (Wade Allain-Marcus), Ben’s best friend, who owes him a life debt; Terrence (Justin Chatwin), Mary’s would-be protector-turned-stalker; Wayne (Travis Fimmel), an Aussie hitman with an open mind and a code of ethics; and his free-spirited girlfriend, Barbie (Emmanuelle Chriqui). As fists and bullets fly, it becomes clear that violent delights will have violent ends.
Super fun movie poster
