Recap

Carolina Panthers @ WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM

Washington had a chance to wrap up a divisional championship but was not able to get past the panthers. Despite pitching a second half shutout, Washington wasn’t able to overcome a 20-3 halftime deficit and fell 20-13.

The Washington offense struggled to hold onto the ball, committing four total turnovers on the day. Dwayne Haskins was responsible for three of the four. Haskins three two picks and fumbled once before being benched in favor of Taylor Heinicke. Heinicke finished 12 of 19 for 137 yards and a touchdown in relief. The two quarterbacks were sacked a combined three times.

The Football Team’s defense played well despite their offense’s struggles. They were able to sack Teddy Bridgewater four times and force two turnovers of their own. Washington held the Panthers to just 167 net passing yards on the day. Chase Young led the way with a forced fumble, a sack, and a tackle for loss.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES @ DALLAS COWBOYS

The Dallas offense put on a show on Sunday, racking up 513 total yards and 37 points against the Eagles’ depleted defense. The Cowboy defense was able to withstand a hot start from Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense to hold them to just 17 points in the 37-17 final.

Just about every player on the Dallas offense had a huge day. Andy Dalton perhaps was the most impressive, finishing 22 of 30 for 377 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup both had 121 yards receiving on the day with Gallup adding two touchdowns.

The Eagles jumped out to a quick 14-3 start thanks in large part to an 81 yard touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts to DeSean Jackson. However, the Eagles would score just three points the rest of the way and were shut out in the second half. Hurts struggled after a fast start, ultimately throwing two interceptions and losing a fumble. Miles Sanders finished with just 57 rushing yards and Jackson was the leading receiver with just one catch on one target.

NEW YORK GIANTS @ Baltimore Ravens

The Giants defense struggled to stop Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense, surrendering 432 total yards and 27 points in the 27-13 loss. Baltimore possessed the ball for more than half the game with a little over 35 minutes of possession time.

Baltimore was able to run all over the Giants defense. The Ravens totaled 249 total rushing yards on 40 total carries. Lamar Jackson was efficient through the air to compliment the strong rushing attack, finishing 17 of 26 with 183 yards and two passing touchdowns. Jackson pitched in an additional 80 yards on 14 rushing attempts.

The Giants offense was not able to take advantage of their limited opportunities on the field. Daniel Jones was sacked six times including twice by Chris Board. Jones played relatively well despite the beating he took, finishing 24 of 41 with 252 yards and a touchdown with no turnovers. However, the Giants totaled just 54 rushing yards on the day with Wayne Gallman finishing as the leading rusher with just 27 yards. This was now the ninth game this season and fifth straight the Giants failed to score 20 or more points.
