Recap

Seattle Seahawks @ WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM

Washington fell to Seattle 20-15 despite scoring 12 points in the fourth quarter to narrow the deficit from 20-3 to the final score.

The Football Team’s offense had difficulty scoring and holding on to the football. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins started in place of Alex Smith and threw two interceptions. Haskins finished 38 of 55 for 295 yards, a touchdown, and the two picks. He was also sacked four times. Washington rushing offense combined for just 84 rushing yards on 20 carries.

The anemic outing from their offense wasted a decent showing from their defense. Washington was able to hold Russell Wilson to just 121 yards on 18 of 27 passing and picked him off once. However, Seattle was able to rack up 181 rushing yards, 50 of which came from a touchdown run by Carlos Hyde.

San Francisco 49ers @ DALLAS COWBOYS

Dallas was able to win 41-33 despite being out-gained 458 to 291 in total yards thanks to four San Francisco turnovers.

The Dallas offense was able to thrive on short fields and put up points despite low yardage totals. Andy Dalton had a modest game, finishing 19 of 33 for 209 yards and two touchdowns. Tony Pollard started in place of an injured Ezekiel Elliott and rushed for 69 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns. He also pitched in 63 receiving yards on six catches.

San Francisco QB Nick Mullens committed three turnovers, two interceptions and a fumble. Despite this, the Cowboys defense allowed Mullens to throw two touchdowns and for WR Brandon Aiyuk to have a good day with 9 catches for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Cleveland Browns @ NEW YORK GIANTS

The Giants struggled to get much going against the Browns, managing just 288 total yards and 6 points in a 20-6 loss.

Colt McCoy started at quarterback in place of Daniel Jones and couldn’t offer much production. McCoy finished 19 of 31 for 221 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. The Giants rushing attack wasn’t much better, mustering just 74 yards on 21 carries.

Conversely, Baker Mayfield had a strong performance against the Giants defense. He finished with 297 yards on 27 of 32 passing with two touchdowns. Seven Browns receivers logged more than one catch and eight caught a pass in all. Cleveland possessed the ball for a full ten minutes longer than the Giants.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES @ Arizona Cardinals

A fantastic game from Jalen Hurts in his first NFL start was not enough to overcome a leaky Eagles defense, with the team ultimately falling to the Cardinals by a score of 33-26.

Hurts was heroic in the losing effort, passing for 338 yards on 24 of 44 attempts with three touchdowns. He also ran for 63 yards and another score. Hurts and the Eagles were able to erase a 16-0 first quarter deficit to get back in the game but fell short in the end.

The Eagles defense struggled mightily to slow down the Cardinals offense. Kyler Murray put up an equally as impressive game as Hurts, passing for 406 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. Murray also added a rushing touchdown and 29 yards on the ground. DeAndre Hopkins victimized the Eagles depleted secondary, caching 9 of 11 targets for 169 yards and a touchdown.
