#1 Ben Simmons – Age 23, STOCK WAY UP
Previous Ranking – #1
16.5 points, 5.3 boards, and 8 assists per game so far through four games. Don’t forget to add a sleeper hold on Karl Anthony Towns to those stats as well. Ben Simmons has looked more and more comfortable in Brett Brown’s offense this season. More importantly, the chemistry he is building with Al Horford has real potential come playoff time.
#2 Carter Hart – Age 21, STOCK NEUTRAL
Previous Ranking – #2
We all knew Carter Hart would test the patience of Flyers fans this season. We also should expect some early struggles from Carter Hart. A somewhat of a goalie controversy has started with Brian Elliott playing well. But I wouldn’t worry about it. Carter Hart is only 21, and he is future of the Philadelphia Flyers. Deep breaths, Flyers fans.
#3 Spencer Howard – Age 23, STOCK WAY UP
Previous Ranking – #20
Let’s be clear. The Philadelphia Phillies need Spencer Howard way more than Spencer Howard needs the Phillies. The Phillies starting pitching was atrocious all season. Good news: Howard has the potential to be a top end starting pitcher with the Phillies next season. It will be interesting to see how Joe Girardi manages Spencer Howard’s workload in 2020.
#4 Travis Konecny – Age 22, STOCK WAY UP
Previous Ranking – #8
Travis Konecny has been playing lights out this season with the Philadelphia Flyers. The 22 year old has been the Flyers’ best player on offense this year. Six goals, seven assists, and 13 points already for the dynamic scorer. Our very own Tyson Quibell called Konecny the breakout star of the Flyers on our Blue Route Pod prior to the start of the season. He absolutely nailed it.
#5 Ivan Provorov – Age 23, STOCK UP
Previous Ranking – #15
So far, so good. Alain Vigneault’s system seems to be working much better for Ivan Provorov. Provy has 2 goals, 5 assists, and 7 points in 11 games so far this season with the Philadelphia Flyers. He’s had a hot start to the 2019-20 season, and his development this year will be one of the biggest reasons why the Flyers make the playoffs.
#6 Joel Farabee – Age 19, STOCK WAY UP
Previous Ranking – Honorable Mention
Joel Farabee might be only 19 years old, but he’s shown an incredible amount of flash during his short tenure with the Philadelphia Flyers. He tore it up with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, scoring 3 goals and adding an assist in 4 games. In five games with the Flyers, Joel Farabee has an assist and many more standout plays that never seem to count.
#7 Matisse Thybulle – Age 22, STOCK WAY UP
Previous Ranking – #18
Rookie Matisse Thybulle, despite playing only 20 minutes per game, is currently leading the entire NBA in total steals and steals per game. His defensive instincts and IQ keep telling me that he’s the next Tayshaun Prince. We all thought Matisse was the next Robert Covington. News flash: Matisse Thybulle is blowing away all of our expectations, and he’s only scratching the surface of what he can be some day.
#8 Travis Sanheim, Age 23, STOCK UP
Previous Ranking – #4
Not the best showing from Travis Sanheim vs. Pittsburgh the other day. Sanheim posted a -4 with two shots and two hits vs. the Penguins. The good news? The 23 year old is getting more shots on net this season. Sanheim has 4 assists and 4 points through 11 games with the Flyers. Despite the tough game vs. Pittsburgh, he’s certainly shown progress since 2018-19.
#9 Andre Dillard – Age 24, STOCK UP
Previous Ranking – #21
Jason Peters has taken Andre Dillard under his wing, and the results are finally beginning to show. As expected as a rookie offensive tackle, Dillard had his fair share of ups and downs this season. However, since starting for Jason Peters during the past two games, Dillard has shown that he is getting more comfortable protecting Carson Wentz.
#10 Alec Bohm – Age 23, STOCK UP
Previous Ranking – #11
He mashes the ball. Everyone knows this. The only question is: what position does he play in the Big Leagues? Does he play third base? Does he play first base? One thing is for sure: expect Alec Bohm to be batting in the middle of the Philadelphia Phillies lineup sooner rather than later.
#11 Oskar Lindblom – Age 23, STOCK UP
Previous Ranking – #9
What a start for Oskar Lindblom. Lindblom is showing he can be a very good scoring winger and play special teams. Oskar is vital to the future of the Philadelphia Flyers as he’s shown flashes of being a top end scorer in the NHL. The Lindblom-Konecny-Couturier line has been one of the biggest bright spots of the young Flyers season.
#12 Dallas Goedert, Age 24, STOCK SLIGHTLY UP
Previous Ranking – #3
After a slow start, Dallas Goedert has been on a bit of a roll as of late. Goedert is averaging 4 receptions and 45 yards per game with 2 touchdowns over his last 3 games with the Philadelphia Eagles. The writing is on the wall and I may get flamed for saying this: Dallas Goedert will pass Zach Ertz as the number one tight end on the Eagles by season’s end.
#13 Miles Sanders – Age 22, STOCK UP
Previous Ranking – #12
Does he do too much dancing in the back field? Of course. Eagles fans need a bit of patience for Miles Sanders to run with the confidence and decisiveness one would expect. Most importantly, Sanders has shown to be a big play threat for Carson Wentz in the passing game. According to Reuben Frank, his 851 all-purpose yards are 2nd-most ever by a Philadelphia Eagle in his first eight games.
#14 Nolan Patrick – Age 21, STOCK DOWN
Previous Ranking – #16
No one doubts the skill of Nolan Patrick. However, this guy is way too frail for his own good. Like many of the other young guys on the Flyers, this was supposed to be a breakout season for Patrick. With so many young Flyers playing well, could Nolan Patrick be trade bait in the near future?
#15 Morgan Frost – Age 20, STOCK UP
Previous Ranking – #19
It’s time to bring up Morgan Frost to the Philadelphia Flyers. Frost was disappointingly sent down to Lehigh Valley prior to the start of the season. He has 2 goals and 4 assists in 7 games with the Phantoms so far this season. Expect him to join the Flyers sooner rather than later.
#16 Derek Barnett – Age 23, STOCK DOWN
Previous Ranking – #7
Similar to Dallas Goedert, it was a slow start for Derek Barnett this season. However, Barnett has 3.5 sacks and 7 quarterback hits over his last 5 games. If the Eagles want to make the playoffs, then Derek Barnett must take a significant leap forward in his development. Barnett is the key to a playoff run for the Philadelphia Eagles.
#17 Zhaire Smith – Age 20, STOCK DOWN
Previous Ranking – #17
Zhaire Smith will start his 2019-20 season with the Delaware Blue Coats this season. Matisse Thybulle’s emergence has put a temporary hold on his return to the Sixers. However, Zhaire Smith showed plenty of flashes during the Summer League and preseason to make me believe he still is the real deal. Zhaire just turned 20 years old and will be an exciting player to watch at the 76ers Fieldhouse.
#18 Avonte Maddox – Age 23, STOCK DOWN
Previous Ranking – #6
Thankfully he’s okay. A scary neck injury vs. the Packers in Week 4 has sidelined Avonte Maddox since that moment. The bad news? Avonte said he lost feeling in his body for 20 seconds after the collision with Andrew Sendejo. The good news? Avonte was a full participant in practice on Wednesday for the Philadelphia Eagles.
#19 Cam York – Age 18, STOCK UP
Previous Ranking – Honorable Mention
The 18 year old defenseman has 3 assists in 3 games with the University of Michigan this season. A lower body injury kept Cam York out of three straight games a week ago. Once Cam gets stronger physically, he’s going to be an exciting player to watch. He’s a bit of a ways out from making the Flyers roster, but expect Cam York to put up serious numbers with the Wolverines this season.
#20 Shake Milton – Age 23, STOCK WAY UP
Previous Ranking – Honorable Mention
An injury sidelined Shake Milton after a phenomenal start with the Philadelphia 76ers. Despite playing mostly on ball with the Delaware Blue Coats last season, Shake Milton has shown consistency from 3 point range and has provided excellent defense. Shake Milton will be re-evaluated when the Sixers return home from their four game road trip.
#21 Bobby Brink – Age 18, STOCK UP
Previous Ranking – Not Ranked
The 18 year old winger has 3 goals and 3 assists in 6 games for the University of Denver this season. Bobby Brink scored his first career goal during his first NCAA game a few weeks ago and hasn’t looked back. Similar to Cam York, expect Bobby Brink to put up huge numbers in college this season.
#22 Marial Shayok – Age 24, STOCK UP
Previous Ranking – Honorable Mention
All signs point to Marial Shayok being an elite offensive player for the Delaware Blue Coats this season. Shayok led the Sixers in points during the Summer League, and that should continue when he plays at the 76ers Fieldhouse in November. He’s got all the tools to shoot consistent from three, from midrange, and pull up off the dribble.
#23 Phil Myers – Age 22, STOCK NEUTRAL
Previous Ranking – #14
On Thursday, the Flyers recalled defenseman Philippe Myers. Myers had a solid start with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, scoring four points in six games. He is a +8, which leads the team. Myers was surprisingly sent to Lehigh Valley prior to the start of the season, hence the drop in ranking (along with the greater rise of other players below him previously in these rankings). However, his solid start and now seeing him back in the Orange and Black keeps his stock from dropping.
#24 Adam Haseley – Age 23, STOCK UP
Previous Ranking – Not Ranked
Adam Haseley had a strong 2019 season, batting .266 with 5 home runs and 26 RBIs in 67 games with the Philadelphia Phillies. While those numbers won’t blow anyone away, Haseley was most productive in the outfield. Let’s be honest. Most of us didn’t expect much out of the first round pick last season. Haseley was a pleasant surprise and should be a vital part of the Phillies core moving forward.
